Give us a Customizable Home Page

Give us the ability to customize what news we see on the home page. For instance, I like to read about Aeronautics and Commercial Space. Give me the ability to see about those topics on the home page instead of having to click around to get to them.

  1. Being able to subscribe to specific missions like different peoples' channels in Youtube. Perhaps there aren't enough updates per project, but if more content was released to the public per project maybe there would be enough to validate it. I definitely would like customizing the home page by dropping in panels of news feeds from various categories. A personalized dashboard with an account.

  2. Yes! Customizable websites is a great idea! I never use some blocks in the main site, but I want see some subsite many times. This is always many many plus click.

It's a great idea but I think one already exists. It's called MyNasa mynasa.nasa.gov

  5. Please leave the standard home page pretty much like it is, it gives the feeling of space. if it is too light, and lit up, it might look mundane, like all the other web pages....give the feeling of space, thankyou.

  6. Take this concept one step further and make it passive as well as active.

Use technologies that passively learn about the visitor through their interactions/searches (or simply ask a visitor) adding to a persistent portfolio of my interests or perhaps what others are viewing with similar interests.

On subsequent visits use this persistent portfolio to help prioritize, guide or build focused selections of content (my genre for example).

  8. I'm an experienced user and professional webmaster, and I never customize pages, except to remove things I really can't stand. The reason are that there are so many pages on the Web, there is so little flexibility to change what I actually want, and especially, that the changes are liable to all get wiped out, the next time someone decides to redesign the Web page.

I think customization suits relatively few visitors, and relatively poorly, at that. It's not worth their time (or the webmaster's).

  9. Basically CM's Passive & Active post is already covered software wise with the way cookies can be coded to work. With the data collected NASA Computer Admin people would be able to see who is interested in what. I just assumed they did that already. Perhaps not. It is a good idea because NASA can then see what the majority of public interest is in.
