We need to get the public involved

Have somewhere on the site telling civilians what they can do to get involved, or what they should get for an education if they want to have careers with space exploration. We need to get people thinking about how to expand the frontiers of humanity.

  1. Would it be possible to tickle the minds of those who think differently? As the readers of the web page ask for help: "this is what we want to do, these are the parameters, this is the cost, now solve please." What ever you select, the one you chose does not have to receive money; possibly a piece of the action, a name plate on a rocket; tour of your sites, etc.

  2. Growing up in the 60s, NASA was a part of our everyday lives--we lived for news about the space race and waited with great anticipation every launch, every story. More public involement would get the children of today as excited as we were waiting for that first step onto the moon.

  3. NASA should allow readers with adequate knowledge to help NASA scientists solve problems should they want to. NASA can choose which difficulties they make public, and what problems readers can help them with. I have seen various forms of this, namely the Innocentive program online that promotes public invention.

This may seem obvious, but I don't see a place on NASA's main Facebook page for general commentary...

So, if I want to, for instance, suggest lobbying Congress to increase NASA funding as a way to create jobs, I can't do it.
